On Tuesday 6 June our AI4ER seminar will be presented by Dr Maria Perez-Ortiz, University College London
Talk title: Planet-centred AI for responsible foresights and targeted technological design
This talk will give a broad overview putting in context the great opportunities and risks that AI brings to our global sustainable development agenda in terms of society, environment and economy, showing how planet-centred AI is a wicked but pressing challenge to tackle. The talk will also discuss the different dimensions that need to be embedded into these systems to build them responsibly, as well as present some of my preliminary work on developing sustainable futures with AI.
Maria Perez-Ortiz is Lecturer in AI for Sustainability at the UCL AI Centre. She is the Director of a MSc programme on AI for Sustainable Development, where she lectures about how to build responsible and sustainable AI. Maria is also UNESCO Co-Chair in AI. She is currently interested in understanding how we could support the role of policy makers in crafting policies in the environmental and social space with simulations and AI.
Location: Drum Building, Madingley Rise, Madingley Road, Cambridge, CB3 0EZ and zoom.
