AI for the study of Environmental Risks (AI4ER)

UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training

The built environment is currently responsible for a quarter of buildings and infrastructure greenhouse gas emissions in the UK. Developing positive solutions using data-driven methods together with AI and machine learning will be crucial for countries to adapt to increasingly extreme climatic conditions such as the risk of flooding and overheating.

Renewable energies, energy demand reduction and the management of its environmental impact and assessment of risk are also key factors that need to be addressed in our transition to a low carbon society

Affiliated partners and Depts that work in these fields include the Dept of Engineering, Dept of Architecture, Dept of Earth Sciences, Dept of Computer Science and Technology, Mott McDonald, BuroHappold Engineering, Max Fordham, and RMS (Risk Management Solutions)
