During the MRes year (year 1) you will undertake two terms of teaching and a three month research project. Students will be based at the Drum Building on the Madingley Rise site before transferring to their PhD department.
Further details on the taught component can be found here.
The overall objectives of the MRes year are to:
- Provide students with a broad understanding the range of urgent environmental challenges facing global society and practical experience of applying AI-based tools to address these challenges. The training programme will be individually tailored to take into account the educational background and interests of the students;
- Build a cohort of students and equip them with skills that prepare them optimally for PhD research.
- Develop entrepreneurial and project-management skills and generate awareness of industrial, commercial and policy drivers through relevant cohort activities and close integration of CDT partners in the delivery of the educational programme.
Assessment
You will be required to write reports and present your work as part of the formal assessment. This currently consists of:
Guided Team Challenge |
MRes Project Report and Presentation |
PhD Project Proposal and Presentation |
Students must pass the assessment, attend the compulsory training elements, and have a confirmed PhD project approved by the programme's Research Committee, before progressing on to the second year of the programme.
